North Carolina Gateway

North Carolina Gateway

Jerry had to go to a work convention in Raleigh, North Carolina and he had the great idea of extending his stay there, taking Isabella and me and making a family getaway out of this trip. I was super excited because it was going to be my first time visiting North Carolina.

The plan was to spend two days in Raleigh while he was attending the convention and then drive to Wilmington and stay at the beach!

Wrightsville Beach

The first couple days we stayed in downtown Raleigh, although Jerry was working we managed to have fun and have family time.

In this trip Isabella and Mami enjoyed more time alone than usual,  because Daddy was working. We had our traditional breakfast at Starbucks, walked around downtown Raleigh, swam and went to a really cool museum. We even had a lunch date, just us!

This is the pose I always get when I said, model for the camera!

Our goal for this trip was to have a few good days enjoying the beach and the nice weather. We didn’t make any big plans, but we were determined to enjoy every second of our family getaway.

Wrightsville Beach

Soon it was time for our beach days. Isabella was as excited as we were, she could not wait to see the beach and play in the sand. We drove around two hours from Raleigh until we finally made it to Wilmington. We stayed right on Wrightsville beach. It was so nice waking up to the ocean view and to feel the sea breeze that instantly transported me back home.

Starting our road trip to the beach.

The day we arrived we went straight to take a walk on the beach, after checking into our hotel. The plan was to just to take a walk but Isabella had other plans. Of curse she got into the ocean and played and we all had a great time.

We spent 3 full days at Wrightsville beach and explored around. Isabella was so happy and smiling the whole time we were at the beach. We built sand castles, pretended to cook with the sand, collected sea shells and created memories that will last a lifetime.

Jerry and I were constantly saying she loves the beach, she is so happy, she is enjoying so much (referring to Isabella). And that’s the thing about been a parent your level of happiness is  at its highest when you see your kids happy, healthy and enjoying life. The water was a little cold but still good to play in and the days were very beautiful, we got all sunshines. The water was not to deep and waves were nice and calm, making perfect for kids and families like us.

We did some exploring in downtown Wilmington, walked around and had lunch at Front Street Brewery, tried some new beers and good food. Downtown had an old charm mixed in with some island vibes that had me wanting to explore more.   Next time I will plan to spend more time in this area.

This getaway was full of laughs, sand and fun. But let me tell you something, both Jerry and I agreed that this has been the most challenging trip we had made with Isabella. Why? I will give you more details in a future post.

Just as life, traveling with your kids has ups and downs, but I wouldn’t change it for anything. This trip was great I would love to come back, maybe make it a family tradition? We’ll see…

Have you been to North Carolina? Let me know which places we should visit next time.
